Get Involved - Become A Member
If you are at least 18 years of age with a passion for boating, and a desire to learn how to do it safely, you can become a member of the United States Power Squadrons. There are three ways to do this:
Some squadrons may require that certain educational requirements be met prior to joining. Click here for a list of NASBLA approved boating courses.
Note: Former members wishing to restore their USPS membership should call Customer Service at (888) 367-8777 x0 to initiate the reinstatement process.
After filling out the course enrollment form form and submitting credit card info to pay for your manual, you will be assigned a certificate number and registered to receive our national magazine - The Ensign and our electronic newsletter - COMPASS. The certificate number will allow you to take member courses and provide access to member only areas on our web site. Within 7-10 working days you will receive a new member's kit and your membership card.
A Squadron Contacts You
After providing contact information, it will be sent to the squadrons closest to your ZIP code. Representatives of the squadrons will contact you and answer any questions you may have regarding membership and squadron activities. If you like what you hear, you can apply for membership. We welcome your interest in becoming a member of USPS and would like to assist you in the process. Please complete the information on our enrollment form. It will be sent to a member of our staff who will process your information and serve as a liaison between you and the squadrons closest to your home. At the same time if you have any questions please contact us by telephone at (888) 367-8777 or by email at email@example.com.

Education Requirements for Membership
Although USPS currently has no education requirement for membership, certain squadrons may require the passing of a NASBLA approved boating course as a requirement for membership. USPS or NASBLA approved boating courses include: USCG Captain's License, a degree from the US Naval Academy, USCG Academy or US Merchant Marine Academy or any boating course carrying NASBLA certification.
